Louise started painting for relaxation and enjoyment and to fulfil an artistic need which had not been possible to indulge for practical reasons, but it quickly developed into a passion and she embarked on a BA Degree in Combined Studies (Art and Design) at Edinburgh College of Art, managing to combine this with working fulltime.  It was extremely challenging, involving long hours of work, but was so rewarding and it fulfilled a desire to grow and learn and express herself artistically, not only in drawing and painting, it also gave her the opportunity to study printmaking, sculpture, photography, stained glass, ceramics, history of art and more.  Since then Louise has been a committed artist using watercolour, acrylics and oils as well as pastels and ink.

Every year she travels to Italy several times, sometimes based in a favourite area of Lake Garda or visiting her great love, Venice, or travelling around Le Marche with its beautiful and varied scenery from hilltowns and mountainous regions to white limestone cliffs falling down dramatically to picturesque sandy bays, sketching all the while and preserving her memories to be recaptured later in paint. She speaks Italian and has had a love for all things Italian since her first foreign holiday there as a teenager.

Earlier this year in March and April, Louise and two artist friends, one a talented jeweller and silversmith, collaborated to form Amica-Art Group and exhibited at Patriothall Gallery, Stockbridge, Edinburgh.  The Exhibition was named 'Connections' with each artist drawing inspiration from that theme and was very successful.
